Woody Allen om Weinstein: "Tråkigt för alla inblandade"

Woody Allen säger att Harvey Weinstein-skandalen är tråkig för alla inblandade, men att han hoppas att det inte leder till en "häxjaktsatmosfär".

BBC har pratat med Woody Allen om Harvey Weinsten-skandalen. Woody Allen, som jobbat tillsammans med Harvey Weinstein i flera filmprojekt, säger att han aldrig hört talas om att Harvey Weinstein skulle begått några våldtäkter eller sexuella övergrepp innan New York Times avslöjande.
– No one ever came to me or told me horror stories with any real seriousness. And they wouldn't, because you are not interested in it. You are interested in making your movie, säger han til BBC.

Woody Allen säger att det sprids många rykten.
– But you do hear a million fanciful rumours all the time. And some turn out to be true and some - many - are just stories about this actress, or that actor.

Och att hela grejen är "tråkig för alla inblandade".
– The whole Harvey Weinstein thing is very sad for everybody involved. Tragic for the poor women that were involved, sad for Harvey that [his] life is so messed up.

Woody Allen säger till BBC att han hoppas att New York Times avslöjanden om Harvey kommer att leda till "viss förbättring", men att han hoppas att det här inte skapar en "häxjaktsatmosfär".
– You also don't want it to lead to a witch hunt atmosphere, a Salem atmosphere, where every guy in an office who winks at a woman is suddenly having to call a lawyer to defend himself. That's not right either.

Uppdatering: Woody Allen har utvecklat sitt resonemang i Variety:
– When I said I felt sad for Harvey Weinstein I thought it was clear the meaning was because he is a sad, sick man. I was surprised it was treated differently. Lest there be any ambiguity, this statement clarifies my intention and feelings, säger han till tidningen.
